ChatGPT Active Users Surpass 1 Billion, Enterprise Clients Exceed 2 Million
OpenAI reports ChatGPT global active users hit 1 billion with over 2 million enterprise clients. Growth accelerated after initial stalls, supported by new model tiers and infrastructure projects.
Woofun AI reports that OpenAI confirmed ChatGPT’s global active user base exceeded 1 billion and enterprise customers surpassed 2 million as of late July. The platform initially gained 1 million registered users within five days of launch, subsequently crossing 200 million, 500 million, and 800 million milestones in August 2024, August 2025, and October 2025, respectively.
OpenAI had previously projected internal targets of exceeding 1 billion users by the end of the prior year, but growth decelerated, requiring five months to add 100 million users. To enhance service competitiveness, the company is deploying GPT-5.6 Sol, the agent tool ChatGPT Work, and lower-priced models GPT-5.6 Terra and GPT-5.6 Luna.
Additionally, OpenAI is advancing the Stargate project in the U.S. alongside Oracle and SoftBank, while constructing data centers in South Korea with Samsung and SK.
