Qwen App Adds Office Assistant Feature to Compete with Qwen Office

Qwen App introduces standalone Office Assistant for computer control and task automation, mirroring Qwen Office capabilities. Internal competition emerges between individual-focused Qwen App and enterprise-targeted Qwen Office units.

Woofun AI reports that the Qwen App has introduced an "Office Assistant" feature, enabling a standalone working mode alongside standard chat functions. This capability allows the application to control computers and browsers, independently break down tasks, summon various skills, and connect to emails and calendars, while supporting scheduled executions so users can assign tasks via mobile devices for desktop processing, with results delivered as documents, spreadsheets, or web pages.

Alibaba recently initiated beta testing for Qwen Office, which similarly operates computers, utilizes tools, and executes complex tasks to deliver Office documents and web pages. Alibaba previously merged three separate office agents into Qwen Office, and the Qwen App has now developed its own version. This internal competition stems from the products belonging to different business units: the Qwen App falls under the Qwen Business Unit targeting individual users, while Qwen Office is part of the Qwen Office Business Unit focusing on enterprise customers, resulting in nearly identical functionalities despite distinct branding.
