US July ADP Employment Adds 44,000 Jobs, Missing Expectations
US private sector hiring slowed to 44,000 in July, well below the 70,000 forecast. Healthcare drove gains while goods-producing sectors cut jobs, signaling labor market softening.
Woofun AI data shows that US private sector employment rose by 44,000 in July, falling short of the 70,000 market expectation and down from the revised 95,000 in June. All growth originated in the service-providing sector, which added 47,000 jobs, while goods-producing companies reduced their workforce by 3,000 positions. The education and health services sector led with 36,000 new roles, followed by financial activities with 10,000, professional and business services with 9,000, and other services with 6,000.
Nela Richardson, Chief Economist at ADP, stated: "Job seekers are acutely attuned to real-time economic conditions, and their rapidly growing wages signal some supply constraints in parts of the labor market.
Meanwhile, as employers respond to evolving macroeconomic conditions, typical hiring patterns are also changing."
