DeepSeek API Calls Surge to 299M, Overtaking Google for Top Spot

Woofun AI data shows that DeepSeek recorded 299 million text API requests on OpenRouter this week, claiming a 27.1% market share and displacing Google from the leading position. Google followed with 277 million requests (25.0%), while OpenAI ranked third with 185 million calls (16.8%).

The volume increase is attributed to the DeepSeek V4 series, particularly V4 Flash, which accounts for 70% of DeepSeek Agent token usage one month post-launch. Agent workflows generate multiple consecutive model calls per task, significantly amplifying request counts compared to standard interactions.
