Solana Per-Block Compute Limit Surges 66.7% to 100M
Solana activates SIMD-0286, raising CU cap from 60M to 100M. Hot account serialization persists, limiting throughput for high-frequency DeFi and memecoin trading activities.
Woofun AI reports that Solana activated the SIMD-0286 network upgrade on July 29, increasing the maximum Compute Units per block from 60 million to 100 million. This 66.7% capacity expansion aims to enhance parallel transaction processing for non-conflicting operations such as NFT mints and simple transfers.
However, the update does not resolve structural bottlenecks associated with hot accounts, where sequential write operations to shared state continue to constrain effective throughput during high-demand events like memecoin trading. While larger blocks may slightly increase propagation times, early validator metrics indicate network stability remains intact.
